Industrial Oil Sight Glass

Oil Sight Glass Horizontal

Oil Sight GlassThe Oil Sight Glass is available in Vertical, Horizontal or High Temperature grades enabling a painless inspection process. Sight glasses are machined from impact and stain-resistant cast acrylic, with brass hardware.

  • The Vertical and Horizontal acrylic material can withstand temperatures as low as -40°F (-17°C) and as high as 230°F (110°C) at atmospheric pressure.

  • The High Temperature heavy-walled pyrex material can operate in conditions up to 450°F.

  • Provides a 360° visual inspection of oil clarity and color with brass drain valve enabling necessary release of sediment build up.

  • NPT sizes are available in: 1/4”, 3/8” and 1/2” NPT brass nipples.
  • Oil Sight GlassFor installation of the Oil Sight Glass, installers should:

  • Locate the drain plug at the bottom of the oil reservoir or the elbow for drain ports located on sides of the equipment.

  • Apply a threading compound (such as “pipe dope”) to both the nipple and drain valve. Note: Avoid using any products containing Teflon, including Teflon tape.

  • Screw the sight glass into the drain plug port by hand, then tighten with a standard open-end wrench using the drain plug flats.

  • By tightening the drain plug, the torque will also transfer through the sight glass on to the nipples. Note: Excessive torque is not required.
